Designer and author Andy Clarke studies work from designers from outside the web—books, graphics, magazines, or other projects—understands the problems they’re hoping to solve, sees what we can learn, and talks about how to apply it to the web.

This is important because if we’re going to keep improving product and website designs, we need to look for design inspiration in different places. If we always only look at other products and websites for inspiration, we’ll end up with carbon copies and pale imitations.
