Kampung Baru...

When you ask people to conjure up images of the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur, probably most will think of the Petronas Twin Towers, the bright lights of Bukit Bintang or the cultural heritage of the Chinatown area and the old Colonial district. But right in the heart of the city there is a unique spot with a history going back over a century. That spot is Kampung Baru, which means New Village in Malay.

Located not far from the famous KLCC area, Kampang Baru sits just north of the Klang River. Until fairly recently access was quite difficult. The river and AKLEH highway provided a natural barrier between it and the commercial district. However, early in 2020 Pintasan Saloma opened. As well as being a visually beautiful link bridge and a great spot to visit in its own right, it also makes the trip from KLCC to Kampung Baru much easier.
