Dispensational premillennialism theories made primarily beginning in the 1800s. The new premillennialism came to the United States following the Civil War, after flourishing in Britain among the Plymouth Brethren. One of the Brethren's teachers was John Nelson Darby (1800-1882), a former priest in the Anglican Church of Ireland, who developed a new variety of futurist premillennialism. He called it dispensationalism.

Historic premillennialists - They believe Israel will turn to Christ as a nation just before Jesus returns, but that there will be no restoration of Israel as a nation. Thus Israel will not have a special or distinct role in Christ's millennial kingdom from that of the Church.

Dispensational premillennialists believe in a seven-year tribulation when the Antichrist is especially active and God pours out His wrath before 1,000 years of Christ's reign in which the Jewish nation will have a special place and the Jewish Temple will be restored. Israel and the Church are seen as distinct groups within God's plan. During the millennium, the nation of Israel will have preeminence and Jews will serve God physically on earth, while those in the Church will have been given eternal, glorified bodies (at the rapture) and will serve God spiritually. Jesus' millennial reign is the time in which God will fulfill His promises to ethnic Israel. After this 1,000 years, Jesus will destroy a final rebellion and establish a New Heaven and New Earth (Revelation 21—22), which will be the eternal state for all. People like John Hagee, Hal Lindsey, Dave Hunt, Tim Lahaye, the Scofield Reference Bible, Salem Kirban Bible, T.D. Jakes, Kenneth Copeland & a host of others found that there was a lot of money to be made pushing this more modern popular theory which was not around in centuries past. Modern day Israel has declared itself to be a secular state because it is comprised of less than 15% of the population that would believe the books of Moses, 18% of Israelis believe the Muslim Qur'an, 18% of Israelis are nonreligious followers of Jewish traditions, 32% of Israelis are completely secular, 2% of Israelis are Christian. The modern state of Israel is just another pagan Gentile nation like all the others (Psalm 2) & is not the same as the Old Testament Israel at all.

2. Galatians 6:15-16 - Paul refers to the entire church made up of Jew & Gentile as "the Israel of God."

3. Ephesians 2:11-19 - Believing Gentiles are fellow-citizens with the Jewish saints in the commonwealth of Israel.

4. 1 Peter 2:9-10 - The church is God's one "chosen race," "royal priesthood," & "holy nation" i.e.
Israel.
