Karen was born in I.X.L., Oklahoma on June 22, 1946. She graduated from Langston University and taught English for over 35 years at Jackson Middle School in Oklahoma City, OK. She was also involved in various civic organizations, including Eta Phi Beta Sorority Inc., Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., and Eastern Star. More importantly, Karen was a beautiful, smart, and loving person with a warm spirit.

Karen passed away on July 10, 2013 from renal cell carcinoma (kidney cancer). Her legacy will continue through the love of her mother, children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, students and friends.
