Whenever I visit St Augustine's I always place flowers on family graves and this now includes the grave of a first cousin I never knew about or even met but stumbled across her by accident on one visit. For several visits I passed her grave never knowing about her or her daughter lying in a grave next to her. Only thru my family tree research and examining the local Burrough Green Villages photos and archives did I learn of her and how she was my Dad's niece from London.Amelia had arrived during WWII as a Land Army girl and met a village boy, fell in love and stayed in the village for the rest of her life.Amelia and her husband ran the Bull Inn and I have photos of them behind the bar. What is also amazing is that she is not related to my local Oak family buried here--she is not at all connected to the Oaks or others here but by chance she arrived in WWII.Now my Oak family were farmers and they once owned and also ran the Bull Inn---Family Tree is full of Surprises. I did pop in the pub before I left and chatted to the new publicans who run the pub for a large company --so its changed a lot and they had no knowledge yet of the history of the pub--new people from London in a posh village where cricket still takes places on the green---not sure about the local Hunt which always met by the pub and I have a photo of Amelia's husband taking out on a tray their alcohol tot as they gathered mounted on their horses and in all the hunting gear......
So the video has been ruined but kept--the family tree is growing exponentially and I hope to stay longer on my next visit so I can get to know a few locals and wander the fields of my Oak ancestors
