1995 was our last trip to Sand Patch as we moved from the Philadelphia area to South Carolina later that year. I have posted Sand Patch Videos from 1989,1990,1991,1992 & now 1995. I have been unable to find the tapes for 1993 & 1994.
In this video the first four trains were shot at Fairhope crossing. Of note is the second train at approx. 4:04, the second unit is a
BQ23-7. Notice that the cab windows have metal plates welded in place. I was told by a CSX person that the railroad did not want them used as lead units, so they covered the windows.. This trip featured a lot of rain so our video time was limited. The normally placid Will Creek was a torrent with all of the rain coming off of the mountains, We then move to CP Brakens and then to Mance and then the East portal of SP Tunnel.
