Acclaimed by the press as a 'dazzlingly virtuosic' (The Herald) guitarist 'of outstanding skill and originality' (Classical Guitar) with 'an exceptional range of timbre...sublime' (BBC Music Magazine), Ian Watt first came to public attention as a 16-year-old finalist on the 2007 BBC Classical Star TV programme. In 2009, he was awarded 2nd prize at the highly prestigious Parkening International Guitar Competition in the USA, where Soundboard magazine described him as an '18 year-old phenom'. He went on to take 1st prize at the Heinsberg Competition in 2011 and has recorded 3 albums for Nimbus Records. A respected teacher, he joined the guitar faculty of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland at just 21.
