St Euphrosynos the Cook, Philippians 2:5-11 Luke 10:38-42; 11:27-28 Class 003 2024-09-20

VIDEO:    • St Euphrosynos the Cook, Philippians ...

A continuation of our Friday class, concluding our teaching about the Dormition and the NT Scriptures read on the Feast. First, we talk about St Euphrosynos the Cook, and as always, to make a moral application the children (and any child of God) can profit from. Then we discuss the homework of last week:
1. Why is the reading from Philippians chosen for a feast of the Theotokos?
2.“Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:” Does this happen to you? How, and when?)

Then we finish up teaching on Philippians 2:5-11, and then teach about the typical Gospel read during Liturgy for almost any feast of the Theotokos, which begins with Mary and Martha, and ends with our Lord saying “Blessed are they who hear the word of God, and keep it.’ (Luke 10:38-42; 11:27-28)

The new Homework is :
1. What would have been a better response for Martha when she noticed she was doing all the work?
2. List 3 things you do during the week that are not needful.
3. List the 3 most needful things you can do each day.
4. How can you hear the word of God and keep it?
