Another day where I just took things as they came and I won't ruin what happens. Starts out with trying to reach Scott glacier.

The legendary and historic Athabasca Pass trail. During the winter of 1811, fur trader David Thompson made the first recorded crossing of Athabasca Pass. For the next 40 years, the pass was the main trade route across the Canadian Rockies. Today it is a magnet for controversy regarding the state of Jasper National Parks back country. A major bridge over Simon Creek was washed out in 2016 and parks Canada has refused all suggestion of replacing it despite being financially funded by a private backer. Ridiculous.

I decided not to wait, and tackle this trail in late September, which has inherent risks. I brought a cheap boat to bring up the safety aspect.

This trail is described in the Canadian Rockies Trail Guide 10th edition. Pages 206-207.
