The Pinnacles Walk in the Coromandel is famous as one of New Zealand's best short overnight hikes, with a jagged summit that provides unforgettable sunsets and sunrises. It's only a two and a half hour hike from the parking lot to the hut, with another half an hour to the peak. The hut sleeps 80 people (it's the biggest DOC hut in New Zealand) and you'll need to book ahead - being so close to Auckland / Hamilton / Tauranga, this hike tends to fill up.
