A colourful Uttar Pradesh town - Ayodhya was more known for its historical roots until the Babri Masjid issue came along. Cyclists abound along with three wheeler auto rickshaws in this early 1990's view of the then strife-torn town.

An old mosque in Ayodhya stands testimony to the multi-religious nature of this north-central Indian town. Policemen on horses are an unusual site indeed, as they pass by nonchalant cows on the streets.

Sadhus and commoners can be seen along. A white Hindustan Ambassador comes along, no doubt with government baggage in it. A cycle rickshaw puller drives through an old gateway to the main city of Ayodhya.
