Unity is not the same as uniformity.

It's so much better.

Unity means that everyone is behind the same mission, and in many cases, the same leader. They share a common purpose, which transcends their role in the organization, their gender, ethnicity, race, personality type, etc. In fact, unity is much more powerful when it celebrates diversity, the antithesis of uniformity.

Humans crave the feeling of belonging. We want to know that we're part of something bigger than ourselves. A great leader will inspire unity among their team and create opportunities to embrace diversity so that everyone is celebrated for being exactly who they are - their authentic selves. At the same time, they'll tap into those diverse elements so that the outcome is greater than the same of its parts.
