I believe it's important to learn those extra visual skills as a designer, as they will allow you to better understand how the visuals work. That comes in handy in many other areas of ux/ui design work as well.

I also believe, with all the AI tools out there, it's really good to have multiple skills next to your main design one, and illustration will always come in handy as well!
