Rafa y Gustavo, su hermano, son inmigrantes de El Salvador que cruzan la frontera de los Estados Unidos en busca de su versión del sueño americano. En su viaje, los oficiales de inmigración los persiguen y Gustavo cae por un precipicio, quedando en silla de ruedas de por vida. Los hermanos llegan a los EE. UU., donde viven con su tía María (interpretada por la influencer La Tía María). Rafa busca trabajos ocasionales solo para enfrentar el rechazo del sistema y, a veces, incluso de su propia comunidad, empezando a creer que su sueño es inalcanzable ahora que su prioridad es cuidar a su hermano. Con la ayuda de sus amigos, Rafa busca el consejo de su ídolo y cantante Alvaro Torres sobre cómo puede alcanzar el éxito.

Rafa and his brother Gustavo are immigrants from El Salvador and cross the US border in pursuit of their version of the American dream. In their journey, immigration officials pursue them and Gustavo falls off a cliff, crippling him for life. The brothers make it to the U.S. where they live with their aunt María (played by social media personality La Tia Maria). Rafa struggles working odd jobs only to face rejection by the system and sometimes even his own race. He begins to believe that his dream is unreachable now that his priority is taking care of his brother. With help from his friends, Rafa seeks advice from his idol and singer Alvaro Torres on how he can reach success.
