Film by Eric Minh Swenson.

Katherine Rohrbacher received her BFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, with a concentration in painting, in 2005. She earned her MFA in 2009 from the Hoffberger School of Painting at the Maryland Institute College of Art where she studied under the late Grace Hartigan and artist Joyce Kozloff. Katherine received a painting fellowship from the Vermont Studio Center. She is currently living and working in Fort Wayne, IN after living in Los Angeles for seven years where she exhibited at the Los Angeles Art Association and Laura Korman Gallery. She works in oil, acrylic and glitter. Katherine approaches painting as a means to reflect upon her experiences and to examine concepts of identity. Her work is not only self reflective in theme she also frequently uses her own image. Set against shimmery glitter, intricate patterns and colorful flora these solemn black and white self portraits produce an intriguing dichotomy that evokes feelings of melancholia and exuberance.
