For Alfredo Espiritu, a Medical Oncology patient at the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center - Washington Township, celebrating his final day of chemotherapy treatment on September 13th wouldn’t be complete without one thing — providing barbecue food for staff.

Alfredo and his wife, Maria, of Sicklerville, have brought in numerous meals for the Cancer Center staff, ranging from American to Filipino cuisine, during his six months of treatment. “I don’t know how else to thank them other than by bringing my favorite dishes,” Alfredo said. “If they are happy, I am happy.” He praised the staff at the “very nice facility” for going “out of their way to put patients first.” Medical Oncology Infusion Nurse Traci Loud, RN, OCN, says, “This gentleman is so giving, all the while fighting cancer. He is an inspiration to us all.”
