Jurmo is a unique gravel esker island, the left-overs from when the last ice-age receded from the Baltics. It is one of the most popular sailing and boating destinations in the archipelago sea. It is also the topic of a very beautiful song written by Finnish singer-songwriter Lasse Mårtenson.
I had the please of attending a memorial concert honoring what would have been the 90th birthday of Lasse Mårtenson. As we have just this summer visited Jurmo, I overlaid some pictures from Jurmo on the concert video. Enjoy!
The concert was performed by the Sofia Finnilä Quartet in the Lauttasaari church:
Sofia Finnilä – vocals
Sampo Hiukkanen – sax
Henrik Wikström – accordion
Hannu Rantanen – base
Lyrics and translation into English in the subtitles!
