1. Cat Litter Box is Dirty

The cat litter box is very important for cats.

As cats like things to be clean,
the litter box should always be clean.

If a cat howls upon returning from the cat litter box,
it could mean that they are asking for the area to be cleaned
since it’s dirty now.

2. They’re Constipated

When cats are constipated,
they may fail to poop and howl.

If it takes longer than usual for them to poop,
or their stool seems smaller and harder,
they may be constipated.

If you find that your cat has not pooped
after visiting the litter box,
you need to take caution as it is highly likely that he/she is constipated.

3. I’m In Pain

Cats can howl when they feel pain
while pooping.

In this case, their howling sound is much louder than usual
or screechy.

If there are any abnormal symptoms, such as bloody stool or diarrhea,
you should take your cat to the vet for a check-up.

4. I Feel Good

In the wild, animals become defenseless
while pooping.

Cats who have strong wild instincts
tend to become anxious while pooping.

Therefore, cats howl once they safely finish pooping because they feel relaxed and satisfied.

5. I Successfully Pooped!

Baby kittens have difficulty pooping on their own,
so mother cats help them
by licking their bottom.

If such behavior has become a habit,
cats may howl to announce that they have pooped,
even after becoming a grown-up.

This will especially be true
if they consider their owner as their mother cats.
