Edit: This ukulele was definitely worth it. See video "PawPaw, Grandson, and Special Gift"¡

I built (put together) my first ukulele!

A dear friend from the Ukulele Underground forums sent me an amazing gift. This little DIY build your own Uke kit.

This kit is made from extremely soft woods but everything seemed to fit good with a little prep work. Just a note, there is a lot of prep, sanding, fret filing, and neck shaping that has to be done with these kits in order to have a decent feeling and playable ukulele. But I think this is also probably the best reason to get one. I gained a lot of experience preparing and putting this ukulele together.

The reviews for these ukulele kits say that they warp quickly and do not stay straight. I plan to update my review of this uke if it does start warping, but I was able to get everything vert straight and a very good setup on it. We will just have to see how long it stays that way. I used Aquila Nylgut Strings to keep tension as low as possible on it.

I am so thankful for this amazing gift and for the experience that it gave me.

If you can get one of these kits cheap enough, they are a great way to build your skill set while not risking an expensive uke. I also have a great little laminate uke to carry with me! Bonus!

Thank you for watching!
