In this video, I will be showcasing my fabric and clothing designs, inspired by the artwork of Master Parviz Kalantari, a renowned and innovative Iranian painter and visual artist. Kalantari is celebrated for his distinctive paintings that blend modern and traditional Iranian art, and one of the hallmark features of his work is the use of kahgel (a traditional Iranian mud-plaster) in his creations.
With this material, Kalantari vividly captured rural landscapes and architecture, reflecting the charm of Iran's village life. His works often depict traditional architecture and natural landscapes, featuring intricate details of mud-brick houses, narrow alleyways, and serene sceneries.
He employed a natural, earthy color palette, giving his artwork a grounded, authentic quality. Overall, Parviz Kalantari used rich painting techniques, incorporating cultural and literary symbols, to portray the essence of rural life and Iranian culture in his art. Kalantari is recognized as one of the founders of modern Iranian painting, leaving a lasting impact on the country’s visual arts
