Suomalainen, turkulainen, Meyerin telakan ylpeys Icon of the Seas lähti ensimmäiselle risteilylleen Royal Caribbean International -varustamonsa uutena lippulaivana Miamista.
Todella upea juttu on myös se, että laivan ensimmäisenä perämiehenä toimii turkulainen merikapteeni Eva Nordling. Upeaa, että kotikulman nuori nainen on tuon jättiläisen "ruorissa".

Miamin ranta oli täynnä ihmisiä, jotka olivat tulleet katsomaan laivan lähtöä. Myös mediaa oli paikalla paljon. Onhan tuo suuri ilmestys! Tällä kertaa näin Iconin rannalta. Viime syksynä Turussa Icon tuli nähtyä telakalla mereltä käsin pieneltä purjeveneeltä :).
Evan lisäksi suomalaisia oli menossa mukana. Niin Karibian risteilylle lähdössä kuin rannalla ihailemassa. Terveisiä Jarkolle ja Jukalle!

Finnish, Turku-based, the pride of the Meyer shipyard, Icon of the Seas set off on its first cruise as the new flagship of its Royal Caribbean International shipping company from Miami.
Another really wonderful thing is that the ship's first mate is sea captain Eva Nordling from Turku. It's wonderful that the young woman in the corner of the house is at the "helm" of that giant.

Miami Beach was full of people who had come to watch the ship leave. There was also a lot of media present. That's a big revelation! This time I saw Icon from the beach. Last fall in Turku, Icon came to be seen at the dock from the sea from a small sailboat :).
