In addition to the standard interurban buses, MAN always offered a bus model derived from the current coach series, usable for standard and coach service.
The ÜL series was introduced in 1989 and turned out to be very successful, not only at private operators but also at operators of suburban/interurban bus networks. Beside some optical details it was mainly the engine that changed over the years and thus lead to different designations of the buses.

The following models are drivable in OMSI:
- ÜL 242, ÜL 292 from 1989
- ÜL 272, ÜL 312 from 1992
- ÜL 312, from 1996

The company Regionalverkehr Kurhessen ordered 40 MAN ÜL buses between 1990 and 1996 and mainly used them in the area of Kassel. The vehicles were equipped with 6-speed manual transmissions and single front doors. Some buses were
exceptions as they were bought to be used on the suburban lines between Kassel and Vellmar and therefore were equipped with automatic transmissions made by ZF and double front doors.
