The main villain of the final "Guardians" movie is a character called the High Evolutionary, a scientist incredibly meticulous in his experiments. Defined by the actor himself as a someone who cannot be defended for his cruel methods and is flawed in his own search for perfection and species evolution, the High Evolutionary is a fashinating and refreshing villain not much for his physicality, but his dangerous way of thinking, and the psychological and emotional damage he caused to Rocket only emphatize his evil nature.
Despite all the uneasiness of the character, his musical theme is a splendid and beatiful composition. The melody that the vocals reproduce is mainly the hymn "Mo Ergaste Forn", briefly mentioned in the movie, which inspires the villain to pursuit perfection through his experiments - and the music effectively convey his own corrupted concept of good and beauty with that theme, which is at the same time fascinating and dreadful. As the movie progresses and the stakes become higher, the High Evolutionary manifests also his crazier side, which the score presents as sudden and abrupt distortions of tone and musical instruments, conveying an appropriate feeling of dread to his madness.
