The UK Hydrographic Office (UKHO) hosted an in-person panel discussion with experts from across the maritime industry at London International Shipping Week 2023. Following this, we hosted a live webinar with UKHO Chief Executive Peter Sparkes and Head of Technical Partnerships Thomas Mellor.

The webinar focussed on how data can help address two of shipping’s biggest challenges: digitalisation and decarbonisation. This included exploring voyage optimisation initiatives, improvements to maritime connectivity, autonomous vessels of the future, and more.

The live discussion also included a look back on some of the key conversations from our panel, followed by a live Q&A. Peter and Tom answered questions on a variety of topics, from the benefits of S-100 and timelines for implementation to voyage optimisation.
