A walk around an early 916 I had in that had been sitting for some time, describing the issues and faults you'd expect to see. I'm doing quite a lot of these jobs across the range nowadays, and most of them end up being around $5,000 for various reasons. So that's the number i quote when I get asked "how much do you think it will cost to.....". Followed by "but it depends what's wrong with it". It's very hard to tell how bad it'll be just looking at it.

On this one the replacement braided clutch and brake hoses were made by John Stamnas (Goodridge agent here in AU) with what they called "retro black" (or something like that, I've forgotten already) covering, which is a matt black look plastic over the steel to make them look more like the original rubber hoses and not shiny.

The owner wanted to be present when it was started for the first time, and appeared most disappointed when it went ruh ruh bruuuuuuum, firing without any drama at all. He was expecting popping and banging and that sort of thing. The HICAP starter lead kit from Motolectric certainly helps the 916 in that regard.
