Yamato Furuya had it all: a lucrative job, a luxurious sports car, and an overall stable life. But the confines in which he felt Japanese society had placed him led to what his friends teased was a midlife crisis. He abruptly quit his job and discarded most of his possessions, but it wasn't enough. Yamato decided to transplant himself to Mexico, based on the allure that he knew nothing about it. There, he learned to cook traditionally and discovered a new side to himself. Returning home to Japan, Yamato has brought a passion to reinvigorate Japanese culture and spread the love he pours into his cooking. Hataraku means "to work," but, translated literally, it means "make it easy for others," which is what Yamato aspires to do for those closest to him.
