Chef Yia Vang cooks up Hmong-style pork steam buns with his mother, Pang Vang. A staple in many East and Southeast Asian countries, families often personalize the recipe with the flavors and ingredients they love most. Pang first discovered the dish when the family lived in a refugee camp in Thailand. Even though they aren't a part of traditional Hmong fare, she's made them ever since.
