Is there gold in Minnesota?
Gold panning, gold mines and the Alaska Klondike gold rush......
These are things that have captured my imagination since I was a child. Afterall, who has not dreamed of setting off on a grand adventure seeking their fortune? The problem is I live in Minnesota and there is no gold in Minnesota.
Or is there?
Gold CAN be found in Minnesota. It was carried down from Canada in the glacial till and deposited in places in Minnesota. In fact there has been a couple of "gold rushes" in Minnesota. Most notably near Lake Vermillion and down south on the Zumbro River.
Granted, the power of that grinding and crushing ice from the glaciers reduced those small amounts of gold into very fine particles, but it is still gold!

Last video I mentioned running 100 mile races. Well there just happens to be a series of ultra trail races near the Zumbro River that I've run. Every time I would drive by that river I would wonder about the gold rush!

I recently stumbled upon a youtube channel called @glacialgoldhunter. He is a guy that pans Minnesota rivers for tiny flour sized specks of gold.
It got me wondering.......

Could the river house be sitting on a bed of treasure?
I quickly got the pan to find out!
I also had a couple of bags of Alaska pay dirt from Gold Daughters panning in Fairbanks Alaska after last years visit.
Either way we were going to find some gold.

We have gold in the pan!
But which pan was richer?
Watch to find out!
