On 9th August 2022, foundation was laid for ‘Baansera’, the city’s first Bamboo theme park over approx. 10 hectares of land in the Yamuna floodplains in view of the G-20 summit. Several varieties of Bamboo saplings from various parts of the country including Assam have been planted here. The entire area has been categorised into two parts – Bamboo Recreation and Bamboo Plantation. The park will have amenities designed in bamboo including kiosks, huts, watchtower and seating for people. While enhancing urban green, the Bamboo Park will provide an excellent outdoor recreational space to the common citizens of Delhi. Plantation of bamboo on a large scale will help address the capital's problem of air pollution significantly. Bamboo produces about 30% more oxygen even as it consumes far less water and enriches the soil. A nearby depression area of approximately of 6 acres is being developed into a water body which will be a part of the project
