Kenny has been involved in playing traditional music since his time at Blairgowrie High School. He was one of the first people to use the wooden flute in the Scottish folk scene in the 1970's. He was a member of the band Ceolbeg, touring with them and on their first album. Kenny was one of the first Tutors at Scottish Culture and Traditions in Aberdeen teaching whistle then flute. Kenny was inducted into the Scottish Traditional Music Hall of Fame in 2018.

This tune was inspired by Nathanial Gow's The Fairy Dance and adapting it into the form of a Mazurka.

FluteFling~ traditional flutes and whistles in Scotland
FluteFling classes, workshops and weekends provide opportunities for people to learn and develop traditional skills on the whistle and flute in a Scottish setting.

These videos were made for the European Folk Day 2024 by contributors to The Flutefling Collection.

The Flutefling organisation commissioned and printed the collection during covid lockdown to provide some support to traditional musicians (particularly flute players) during that difficult time. The collection provides a lasting resource for traditional musicians, with contributors providing their favourite flute based tunes, both modern and old in the traditional style.
