"Team Velvet, Inc., founded by Dr. Susan Edwards, a licensed (NJ, PA) psychologist, is a non-profit charitable organization that deals with child trauma experienced by children 5-12 years old. The method used is "non-mounted horse (equine) facilitated psychotherapy", an interactive therapy designed to increase the resiliency of children in overcoming trauma or adjustment issues. It may involve a psychologist, child, parent, and/or horse handler at any given time working with a therapy horse to facilitate the child’s clinical learning.
