Vanderbilt’s Sarah Fuller, SEC women’s soccer champion and the first woman to appear and score in a Power 5 college football game, will speak during a free virtual event hosted by the Nashville Sports Council’s Women in Sports Initiative on Tuesday, Feb. 23 at 6:30 p.m.

Fuller made national headlines in 2020 after joining a depleted Vanderbilt football team, hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. In Vanderbilt’s game at Missouri on Nov. 28, Fuller became the first woman to appear in a Power 5 college football game. Her historic second-half kickoff came days after she helped guide Vanderbilt women’s soccer team to an SEC title. Just a few weeks later on Dec. 12 against rival Tennessee, Fuller became the first woman to score in a Power 5 football game.

This event will be moderated by Laura Rutledge, Host & Reporter for ESPN/SEC Network. Laura Rutledge is the host of ESPN’s year-round weekday NFL news and information show NFL Live and SEC Network’s SEC Nation. Since joining the company in 2014 as a reporter on SEC Network and ESPN, Rutledge has consistently expanded her portfolio. She was named host of NFL Live in June 2020 and just finished her fourth year as SEC Nation host – her fifth year with the show overall.
