Jiugang (Old Port) Island is located at the estuary of the Touqian River in Hsinchu. The port was opened in the 9th year of the Yongzheng reign of the Qing Dynasty (1931). It was the earliest location of Zhuqian Port. It was once prosperous and had a light railway leading to the city of Hsinchu. Now the prosperity has disappeared and it has become a lonely island. The island has a sunset viewing platform at the mouth of Touqian River, a mangrove wetland, Lin Zhanmei Poetry Garden Trail, a replica of the first generation light pole in the Jiugang, and the "Daogang Fengchao" social education base set up by Zhuqian Community University. There is also a Japanese building The "Tamsui Customs Jiugang Branc" from the Japanese era has been registered as a historic building of Hsinchu City.

[General journey time reference]
A circle around the island is about 2 kilometers, and the normal hiking time is about 1 hour (including resting and viewing the scenery). This trip includes island around hiking and visits to historic site and lasts about 3 hours.

【Public toilet information】
"Daogang Fengchao" has public toilets.

【Traffic Information】
★Public transportation: The above Google map shows nearby bus stops. There is no direct bus access. It is recommended to look for nearby bus stops and YouBike rental stations. You can walk or rent a YouBike to get there.
★Driving by yourself: It is recommended to navigate to "Jinhong Temple, North District, Hsinchu City" to navigate to Jiugang Island. When passing under the Baidi Bridge, park in the free parking lot under the Baidi Bridge.
