This panel discussion and performance brought together scholars and practitioners of Santería, a religion with cultural origins in West African and the Caribbean. Participants discussed the persistence of Santería as a cultural expression and community catalyst in Washington, DC. Santería in the District has long been associated with a single home on Parkwood Place, NW. Eloy Hernandez, one of the current owners of the house, is a participant in the panel discussion. The latter half of the program features a full demonstration of a Santería ritual with traditional drumming and chants.

This is a shortened version of the 2 hour original program.
