Two short trips to the Helston Railway, the most southerly railway in the United Kingdom. The line is just over a mile long, running between Prospidnick Halt and Truthall Halt, with an intermediate stop at Trevarno by request. Relaid along the old GWR branch line from Helston to Gwinear Road, you can watch ‘Then & Now - West Cornwall’ to see the rest of the line in its heyday compared to the present day. The aim is to extend the line to the outskirts of Helston, to a new station called Helston Water-Ma-Trout. Filmed on a Sunday and Thursday at the start of the month presented the opportunity to capture steam and diesel at work. Steam trains were hauled by a Peckett 2000; diesel days featured an Andrew Barclay shunter called Kingswood. Both days feature a two-coach consist. The visit features various lineside shots, most at Trevarno foot crossing, and a ride of the line. The weather was wet and windy on both days, unsurprising being 400 feet up on the side of a south-facing hill. There was no shortage of whistles in this film. Nonetheless, shots were taken at:
