I show how to replace a dim VFD with an OLED display on the Advantest R6581T multimeter, this also works for the R6581 and R6581D.

This is from the work by Mickle T. on the EEVblog forum, who has done some amazing work documenting this multimeter.

Note, for the OLED you may need to change the 0 Ohm resistor jumpers to change the mode to be 4-wire SPI, I had to do that on my units.
