Now that that's all out of the way; you might wonder what a palm pilot's purpose even is nowadays.

Well, it does everything your iphone does, except, its not locked down like apple products, so you can just throw emulators and games onto it via SD card, and while you can't upgrade the internal storage, it supports very large SD cards with the SD card support update I installed.

A magical device that you could still get away with using today, with some battery life that is unreal, lasting several days often (depending on what you use it for)
