Clive Davies takes a look at his new book Self evaluation for a new era.

This file is intended to support a school or academy's self-evaluation taking account of the new Ofsted framework.

The inspection framework looks at six main areas:

Curriculum intent
Curriculum implementation
Curriculum impact
Behaviour and attitudes
Personal development, and
Leadership and management

The first three of these six areas fall under the heading of 'quality of education'.
Each of these six areas is then subdivided into specific aspects (anything between 5 and 8) as outlined in the inspection framework.

The new framework continues to have the same four overall judgements: outstanding; good; requires improvement and inadequate.

This publication considers each of these aspects and creates key questions against each one. It then provides a descriptor of what outstanding, good, requires improvement or inadequate will be like. Reading the descriptors should help a school or academy to recognise their strengths or areas to be developed for each aspect.
