Things you can do to prepare:
once the storm starts stay inside.
If you were staying at a hotel get enough food to last for four meals.

If you have a home in Florida here's things you can do to prepare

if you have an elderly or disabled neighbor check that they have everything they need they might not have the means to get what they need on short notice.
Compile all flashlights and batteries in one spot so you know where to find them.
Know where all your important documents are
charge your rechargeable battery sticks now
download any of your kids favorite movies or music.
Have a meet up planned for family friends if you have to evacuate.
If you can get your cars inside your garage
do not drive once the storm hits or in standing water
get gas now in case you have to evacuate
