Of all the Encyclia species that I have been lucky enough to own, this is one that I most looked forward to flowering. In the year 2020, this plant had a failed flowering attempt but two years later it has shown this beautiful spectacle. Its fragrance is different from what I expected since I had read that it had a coconut aroma, which I can deny. Its faint fragrance is a bit strange and I still can't find what to compare it to.

Encyclia fowliei is a species of orchid native to Brazil, specifically to the state of Bahia. A little different from what is best known in this genus due to its particular appearance in those flowers, with those striped patterns and their brown color.

Purchased from sloorchids.com in 2019.
