Billed as southern Europe’s biggest summer party, Malaga Feria takes place every August and is one of the biggest events on the city's calendar. For just over a week, Malaga fair welcomes around 2 million revellers who literally party from dawn till dawn.

Celebrated in some form or other since 1491, the fair commemorates the reconquest of the city by the Catholic King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella.

The fair is held over two main centres, the old quarter in the city and the Recinto Ferial. During the day the streets around Calle Larios are filled with revellers, many dressed in traditional Andalusian costume as the old quarter becomes the party centre. The Recinto Ferial is a vast precinct to the west of city where partying goes on low-key during the day and at full intensity at night. The fairground is divided into the funfair and nearly 180 casetas - large 'pop-up bars' operated by associations, bars and clubs from around the city where the partying continues until dawn.
