First I filter out the solids from the ammonia solution that contains the dissolved brick red ammonia soluble palladium salt. The I add hydrochloric acid to re-acidify the ammonia solution that contains the palladium. A brilliant yellow pure palladium precipitate forms. Then I filter out the bright yellow palladium precipitate, place in a fused quartz dish and calcine (heat to 300 degrees C) the yellow precipitate to burn off the ammonium chloride and form pure palladium sponge.
