Video Transcript: XTAR VC8S

General thoughts after a week of usage/size comparison/practicality/interesting things:
• So I've been a huge fan of the XTAR VC8 - gifted to me by my friend, Tim McMahon. I charge I was excited to see XTAR release an upgraded version, the VC8S. XTAR provided this sample free of charge for me to review.
• The VC8S charges pretty much every battery I can throw at it. I won't cover all of the cells, but I'll add a link in the description so you can see which ones.

Comparison with VC8
• VC8S is larger.
• It can also charge 26800 cells! This isn't officially supported in the manual but it fully charges the cells.
• Upgraded 2x3A, 4X2A and 8X1A charging. Need to use a 45W power supply. Included if you select that version.
• I found on my VC8, that charging would finish too early @4.17+ volts on specific bays, which was annoying, as I'd have to swap the cell into another bay to continue charging.
• The VC8S also allows you to use storage mode and capacity test mode on all 8 slots instead of 4 in the original VC8.

Overall Construction
• Spring-loaded prongs that hold batteries in place firmly.

Modes/Features
• Standard charging mode - can manually change the charge current from 0.25A to 3A. For 2-slot 3A charging, you need to select a slot from 1-4 and 5-8. For 4 slot 2A charging, select two from each.
• Store mode
• Capacity testing
• Internal resistance testing - can be used on salvaged batteries
• Over-discharged battery recovery technology - can trickle charge old batteries to 'revive' them

Considerations
• Large - but you likely do not need additional chargers as this one covers everything.
• Need the 45W power supply if you want access to 2x3A charging. The included power cable is also a little short.

Verdict
This is the BEST multi-cell charger out there for anyone who needs to charge a variety of lithium, NiMH cells.
