Here's a useful woodworking shop project you can make with scrap lumber. There are many times when I need to draw a circle, but don't have a compass large enough. Usually I end up tracing around a bowl or a bucket; or for really large circles, I use the string and nail method. This beam compass will make circles as small as a couple inches in diameter to over four feet.
