Hey Guys and Gals!

In this video we tackle The Frenchmans Track in Cape York, Queensland. We spent the night camped in the Iron Range National Park at Cooks Hut Campground. It rained on our way into the park and overnight it showered on and off. The next morning we smashed down some brekky and packed up our gear ready to head back to the start of the Frenchmans Track.

We traveled along Portland Road to Yam Creek and the start of the Frenchmans Track. There is no sign other than some spray paint on a tree so navigation/maps are necessary to ensure your going the right way!

We aired down our tyres to around 18psi and hit the track. It starts with some simple dirt track driving and progressed to some washed out ruts. This track has everything from sand to red dirt, ruts and river crossings, rocks and dust!

We came up to the Pascoe river and walked the crossing and checked out the entry and exit. It was rocky, muddy but the crossing wasnt too deep so we were in luck. We all crossed without any dramas and carried on down the track. A few smaller creeks run across the track so we crossed through them. One of the longer crossings the 80 got bogged down so needed a snatch out backwards and took the shorted crossing around to the right.

After some more dirt tracks we arrived at the bottom of the Wenlock River for some lunch. After lunch we carried on and climbed out off the Wenlock River Bank. The climb was steep and rutted and some other four wheel drivers had packed some big logs in the holes to help. As i drove up the track a large log got stuck between my brake caliper and shock giving me no brakes and a bent shock! I removed the log and we finished the Frenchmans Track.

A few more hours driving and we ended up at Bramwell Station for a Buffet Dinner some live music and a great camping spot with hot water showers. I managed to chat to the Mechanics at the station and they were able to find me a second hand shocky to chuck in the 80 series landcruiser and finish our trip fro 50 buks!
