Hello All! 

I'm here to tell you that I made it. I made it two years. There were times when I thought I just had to reach for that box dye (which wasn't actually in reach - I would have had to drive to Walmart) and go back to brunette. It was the idea of dyeing my hair every two weeks again that always stopped me in my tracks. 

I created little goals for myself along the way to help make the transition easier (i.e., use root spray for three months and see how I liked it then, make it a year and see what I thought of my hair then, and, my current goal, grow out my hair long and see how I like it then). 

Was it easy to grow out my silver hair? Yes and no. I didn't have many negative comments, which was helpful. I was determined, which was helpful. I had ugly days (lots of them), which wasn't helpful. But in the end, I feel more authentic and have a LOT more free time (and money!), so it's been worth it. I have more compliments on my silver hair then I EVER had on my dyed brunette or blonde hair. 

Finally, it's just hair in the end. Those of us that even have hair are lucky. There are so many more things to be concerned with in the world (I'm not dismissing the fact that feeling good in our own skin is really important, because it is). It's just that there are people who are struggling with much bigger issues, such as a beautiful woman named Erin who became paralyzed from the shoulders down in a swimming accident in 2016.
