G'day guys! In this video I attempted to complete an overnight hike and camp trip in Bungonia State Conservation Area.
The trip started off well, taking in the amazing scenery and wildlife. After making the 400m decent into the slot canyon, I was greeted with some amazing vistas and the incredible vocals of the Lyrebird.

From the quick stop for a snack and top up the water, I made my way downstream through the blockup. This point is where the limestone boulders block the gorge and makes for some interesting scrambling over, around and even under. Some of the boulders were the size of a small house! I didn't do any recording through that spot, but once I made it through I got the drone out to fly over and captured some great footage that you'll see about halfway through.

After a short break I start the process of making my way further downstream to the location I had picked to setup camp for the night. Making 3 creek crossings on the way to the junction of the creek and the Shoalhaven River and it was on the 4th crossing I went for a swim. This swim was unintentional.

Getting late in the day with myself and my pack that was now soaked which included all my sleep gear, along with the area I was not permitting fires, I had to pull the pin on the overnight camp. When I fell into the creek, I managed to headbutt a rock that chipped one of my front teeth and split my lip. So I took my wet, sorry and sore body back up the 400m ridges back to the car to head home.

I was very lucky I wasn't more injured from the fall and rocked home that even though I carry a PLB, more care needs to be taken when doing creek crossings. But it won't stop me from exploring some amazing parts of this amazing country. Hopefully lockdowns here in NSW will ease and I can get back out there sooner than later to do some more camps and hopefully finish this trip for part 2!
