With the current trend of Cottagecore picking up in 2021, I've noticed just how much of it is clearly inspired by historical fashion! So, what better way to make use of my costume closet than to mix and match some modern ensembles together. I worked to use as few modern pieces as possible (it's really just a belt that seemed to go with everything). A few of my chosen items ended up being quite difficult to coordinate, but I not only feel fairly successful with the final ensembles- I also know a few historic pieces (or modern) I would love to make to balance everything out!

I tried to come up with a variety of outfit styles, and I admit they aren't all in my typical taste, but hopefully this will give you a few inspirations on how to pull pieces from your collection and make them work for everyday. Historybounding isn't new- but I do believe it's getting easier and easier to blend with modern styles. I've always found Edwardian fashion to be a simple and easy era to pull from, with it's more tailored vests and shirts, but what about Regency or 18th century? I have a MASSIVE collection of 18th century pieces from my time in Williamsburg (and that's after selling off most of it). I wanted to make sure I pulled from lots of different eras for this challenge!

To top it all off, Abby and I were able to run up to the mountains nearby and hide away in a little fairy tale cottage for a couple of days. We've got tons of great content from that trip, so keep an eye out for more pictures and video!

Thanks to ‪@AbbyCox‬ for the photography!

And thanks to ‪@MorganDonner‬ for coming up with such a perfect term for historical everyday escapades
