This was a three day backpacking trip across Colorado's Great Sand Dunes National Park. We flew to Denver to buy a vehicle with which we drove to the trailhead on a rough off-road trail. The majority of the hike had no trail, instead we found a way down the mountain and across the dunes through some sketchy steep areas. We slept underneath the stars and under a rock outcropping the first night. The view of the sand dunes from the top of the mountain was absolutely mind blowing, not to mention the incredible bloom of wild sunflowers.
