The Book of beginnings ends with the death of Joseph, whose body is placed in a coffin in Egypt. It sounds like a hollow ending for the man in the Bible who, more than anyone, points to the coming Messiah. Joseph’s death and lack of formal burial give hope to future generations. It’s one more way that Joseph point to the Messiah, Jesus, who was still some 1800 years in the future at Joseph’s death.
